Trinity Baptist Church in Concord, New Hampshire is yet again associated with sexual assault allegations being brought out by a 34-year old woman against her stepfather. The victim is allowing herself to be identified by her first name, Cheryl. She was junior at the church’s high school when the abuse began in 1994, and left home in 1996.
(I first wrote about this in my post Second Report of Rape Involving Trinity Baptist Church)
There are a few things that are interesting about this new report.
1) Chuck Phelps was pastor at the time. He was also pastor when Tina Anderson was raped by Ernie WIlis.
2) Cheryl states that she told Chuck Phelps about it, and he told her to “forgive and forget about it.” Tina Anderson stated numerous times, including in her 20/20 interview that she received the same response from Phelps.
3) Chuck Phelps is again trying to appear blameless by saying through his lawyer, David Gibbs III, that
“the girl’s family told him the victim was 18 at the time of the assaults began and that both the police and child protective services had been notified.” StamfordAdvocate.com

It’s easy to think when you have of one case in which maybe there were some things that were not done right or could have been done better, that it was just a fluke. But here we have another case with eerily similar qualities to Tina Anderson’s testimony. Coincidence? I think not.
What are your thoughts? Do you think Chuck Phelps needs to be looked at closer by the authorities?
